The American Flag…

does not fly because the wind moves past it. The American flag flies from the last breath of each military member who has died protecting it. American soldiers don’t fight because they hate what’s in front of them…they fight because they love what’s behind them. 

This 1000 times! I saw a bumper sticker today: “If you can’t get behind the troops to support them, then by all means PLEASE stand in front of them.” 

This actually made my eyes water. Coming home from deployment/leaving for deployment pictures will get me every time.

The “kill team” – members of the 5th Stryker Brigade stationed near Kandahar – took scores of photos chronicling their kills and their time in Afghanistan. Even before the war crimes became public, the Pentagon went to extraordinary measures to suppress the photos, launching a massive effort to find every file and pull the pictures out of circulation before they could touch off a scandal on the scale of Abu Ghraib. The images – more than 150 of which have been obtained by Rolling Stone – portray a front-line culture among U.S. troops in which killing innocent civilians is seen as a cause for celebration. I think I’m going to be sick. This is the front page story we hear about our armed forces. Literally, ONE platoon of the entire military does this and now “Look at how sick the US Military is!”.  We don’t see the story of 5 marines who died the same week Amy Whinehouse did and, you know what, they were all 27, too. But did we hear about them? How they gave the ultimate sacrifice? Nope.  Not saying this isn’t horrible, it is. It’s fucking disgusting. It pisses me off on a human level and on a military brat level. This small contingent of soldiers give the entire military a bad name and it pisses me off.

For the record, they will never be allowed to wear their uniforms. Military Personnel are prohibited from wearing their uniforms to political events. The orientation doesn’t matter, it’s the code of the military.
